Respect Myself - Read a book: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

This book was recommended to me as a good read. I added it to my extremely long book list and hoped that I would someday have the time. Since first learning about it, I have seen the title everywhere and spoken to a few people who have read and enjoyed the book. On my last Costco run, I decided to walk the book table (which I like to do) to see if anything caught my eye and there it was. It was not only on top screaming calling my name, but it was the last copy. It was time. I am meant to read this book now. I am going to respect myself and do something for me.

I’ve already read a few pages and had to put it down because life started again, but I am going to commit to reading it through the next 30 days. I’m not sure if I will complete the book, but I’m sure going to try.

Respect My Environment - Cleaning Our Office/Classroom

I tried this once before. I thought posting my shame online would motivate me to get this room cleaned and keep it that way, but no such thing happened. My office/classroom is just as unorganized and messy as it was three months ago. Within those months, it has been relatively orderly several times, but everything has been surface. You may notice that I can, at least, see my keyboard, but you’re probably wondering what is under all of that other stuff. I wonder too and hope to find out sometime in the next few days.

My poor husband no longer uses his desktop and has resorted to using his laptop because he can’t get to this computer. The children now use it for their schoolwork. I want him back with me. There’s nothing that says LOVE more, than a husband and wife working side-by-side on their computers.

We don’t really have sides of the room, but this is “the children’s side” where most of their school activities take place. I started their learning boards, but they are empty. I have to hurry and get something on them so they can start learning. I’m happy to say they can locate all of the states on the map shown. The world map is on another wall.

Why must my bookshelf look this way? My husband built the desk and the bookshelf. It has such wonderful detail, but I never get to appreciate it because it has been taken over by clutter. Somebody, please help me.

Don’t ask me how old that computer is. My husband calls it the “behemoth.” Again, not too eco-friendly because of the power it drains. The only problem is that it holds my magic tool, which is Photoshop 5.5. I need to either figure out (my husband knows, but I don’t want to pay more money for hardware to move the program) how to get the program off (for FREE), so I can dispose of the computer. Meanwhile, even though it’s antiquated, it still is as valuable as my Dell because it also holds many pictures (my life before the new computer), etc. and I need to take the time to move everything; someday. It’s just like backing up your system. I know I need to do it, but keep putting it off.

I want this room to be comfortable, inviting, and a place where my children can think and learn and not have to shuffle paper (paper, paper, paper, where does it come from?) and books around just so they can sit at their work table. I would probably be more efficient if I could see the top of my desk. I love walking to the closet and pulling out exactly what I need without having to search for it.

I will let you know how it’s going and after 30 days also let you know if I was able to get the project done and keep it clean. Learn more about Life as One Big Project.
