One More Week and It’s Back to Normal(?)
For the past few months, we have been preparing for our first green event which we affectionately call Green Aware Fair. This has been our ongoing Child’s Play project and we’re down to almost less than one week before the jewels of all of our hard labor are experienced. The day will come and go more quickly than it took to plan. I’ve spent a lot of long nights into the early mornings working on various aspects. It’s almost like planning a wedding, but without the cake. We may just have cookies.
Well, I put the LGS Crew to work again because as I’ve said before, they are really great workers and that is without any threatening on my part. No! You don’t have permission to question them on that point. I actually have to threaten them to not help me because sometimes it’s so much easier to do it myself.

Everyone came ready to work. I think Schubaboobaly got the wrong memo because the tool he brought wasn’t going to be of much use on this project.↑
As I said, some projects are better done alone and that was my plan. I figured they would have fun playing in the back of Daddy’s truck while I worked on the signs for the fair. After repeatedly being asked, “can we help?” and be asked, “why can’t we help?” I thought about it and wondered why I didn’t want them to help me. After all, Noah Boa had helped me find most of the tools I was using. He was able to navigate through Daddy’s work tools better than I was. He walked to and handed me everything I needed, and some things I didn’t want, but upon his suggestion, used and found I actually needed. Who was helping whom?
I gave in and decided to let them help. After all, this was a family project, so the family should work on it. When I thought about how much I paid for six signs, it made my pocketbook jingle because I’d saved so much money. I was getting a lot of signs for a great price, but I still had to make them. Here was one down and five more to go.↓

Still not convinced we were painting and not playing Nerf guns, Schubaboobaly ran to check his records.↓

After checking his records, Schubaboobaly realized that he had made an error and decided to swap to a more efficient tool.↓

Once the correction was made, he couldn’t be stopped.↓

I was really glad that I let them help me because I didn’t know what was in store for me later. Painting the words on the signs was a nightmare (I did this alone) and I couldn’t wait to finish.↓

A project of fun was almost ruined because I didn’t want them to get paint on themselves, I didn’t want to have to clean them up, and I figured I could get everything done “BETTER” if I did it myself. Thank goodness for their persistence.

You may have noticed that everyone’s clothes had some paint on them, were a little tattered, and quite small. The pants originally belonged to Noah Boa and after his continued use to the point of naturally torn holes in the knees (that’s from real wear and tear), I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away. As you see, they’re still usable. Repurpose until you can repurpose no more. The shirts are ones that accidently got paint on them during a previous episode, so I made them dedicated paint shirts.

All of our signs for our fair were made from repurposed wood (great price from Home Depot because it was purchased as damaged wood) and left over paint from painting our house.

can’t wait to see the finished product! These are adorable pictures.
