Whatcha’ Readin’? - Previously
would get enough books to last us for one month and then return one month later, return some and renew the ones we enjoyed.
After a while, we started making some really good picks and we started keeping the books like they were our own. Netflix needs to come up with a book program. There are a few that we check out on a regular basis. I guess that means we should buy the books. I grabbed Previously by accident. I mean, I didn’t really glance through the pages before we checked it out. The title was simple enough and the cover of the book looked like it would keep the interest of the children.
When we first read through the book, I turned the last page and thought, “there’s no originality in this book.” The author took a combination of children’s stories and told them in reverse. I could have done that and made myself a published author, but I thought that when you authored a book, it was supposed to be an original. Of course, with each new book read, it becomes the favorite for the next few nights. Previously had been the favorite book previously (I couldn’t resist) for the past few nights and with each night, I actually started enjoying the book. Minna Beana liked it too.
My husband has been taking the children for early morning walks for a few weeks. When Minna Beana and I awoke this past Sunday morning, she discovered that he and Noah Boa had left and that she had missed joining them for the walk. I thought quickly and offered to read her Previously. She immediately perked up and we read the book together. I read the story and she said “previously” every time it appeared in the book.
Previously is a fun book. It is one story that combines the stories of some childhood nursery rhymes and fairytales. If you were ever wondering what happened right before “Jack came tumbling down the hill” or what “innocent” Goldilocks had been up to before coming upon the home of three bears, then you will find out in Previously because every story has a beginning even before you turn and read the first page.
