“I thought I would see if the black marker was working or if it had dried out.”

“I’m happy to report, it’s still working.”

“Oh. We have a drawing board for that?

.

“Mom, it’s all good.

Okay, so when I’m not teaching my children how to draw on their faces, we actually study subjects that better enhance our minds. I’m STILL working on our schedule. I may make this a little easier for myself and use what we did last year. The following are a few of the resources and curriculum we are using this school year:

Preschooler
Since Schubaboobaly is taking the initiative in his learning, I am giving him more work to do. Maybe art, will be his favorite subject. I’m not sure how much I can ask of a 22 month old, but I will see.

Kindergarten
Minna Beana is ready to read, so we will be concentrating more on that and may introduce singing because she loves to sing.

1st/2nd Grade
Our focus this year will be on reading and arithmetic for Noah Boa. He also has an interest in photography, so he doesn’t know it, but he will be getting a camera for Christmas.

Art
We are using various online resources. The older two will also be learning how to sew this year.

Bible Study
I still haven’t decided what of all will be used this year. I purchased the Lamp & Quill series last year and later decided we would try another approach. Regardless, the series is great because it has study that the entire family can participate in so from toddler to college student and Mom and Dad, everyone can participate. We have been reading from the Bible and discussing what we have read.

Character
CBH Ministries Keys for Kids

English
We have been using the curriculum from Letter of the Week for about two years. I really enjoy the lesson plans, which starts as early as day one of the life of your child.
Starfall

History/Social Science
We are going to review the United States (capitals, geography, etc. - we studied last year) and then move onto countries. We are using Heroes in Black History as well as online resources (biography sites, etc.) for studying historical figures. We will be studying Americans as well as people from other countries.

Foreign Language
Beginning Spanish

Literature
We read all the day long (almost). I hope to also get a few personal reads in myself. The library has become our frequent hangout. Along with Mommy reading to the children everyday , my oldest reads one book to us everyday.

Logic
ed-Helper

Math
Right Start Mathematics is an excellent program. I like that they use an abacus as a teaching tool. The manipulatives are fun and really promote learning. I am using the same book for my four and six year old.

Music
The Story of the Orchestra. We used this book last year and will introduce other types of music too. Lately, they have been enjoying jazz and country music.

P.E./Health/Fitness
We are participating in the The President’s Challenge through our homeschool co-op. My oldest is also taking a nutrition class through another co-op.

Science
Bubbles, Rainbows, and Worms and Letter of the Week. They are also studying creation through our co-op.

These are a few of the resources we may use. I will have a definite schedule and a better idea of what we will be using and studying next week. As some homeschoolers know, there is no such thing as a finished schedule. I will also have a list of our field trips.
