A few months from now, this book is going to keep us very warm and cozy because Winter is the Warmest Season. I don’t know why it is that somewhere in the middle of a burning hot, scorching summer I get occasional pangs for a cool winter morning or why a crisp winter day, with cold drops of rain, make me stare out of the window looking for summer sunshine. Can I ever be happy? My oldest son said, “You always read that book.” I guess he’s right because, this …

Okay, we all know there is no such thing as ghosts. Well, my children do too and NO, I’m not filling their heads with scary thoughts and the occult. That said, the The Bake Shop Ghost is an enjoyable, wish I could taste all of the food story. The selection of the day is baked goods. I wonder if that is why I too like this book.

My parents adore their grandchildren and granddaddy …

This book was recommended to me as a good read. I added it to my extremely long book list and hoped that I would someday have the time. Since first learning about it, I have seen the title everywhere and spoken to a few people who have read and enjoyed the book. On my last Costco run, I decided to walk the book table (which I like to do) to see if anything caught my eye and there it was. It was …

When I was growing up, I treated my books like precious jewels. I bought a combination of hard back books (I would always remove the cover) and paperback, which received thoughtful care as I methodically gave it its new book crease, in just the right place, to not break the binding and to prevent future false creases. I also labeled each book with the owner’s name (mine) on the numbered pages that you could read the same from front to back (ex: 121, 343, etc.). Peculiar you say? Well, …
