Life - One Big Project
My life is one big project waiting to be finished. Believe me, I’m in no hurry to BE DONE, but I do have an extremely looooooooong list which I’m nowhere near halfway through. I have been known to add a few things I’ve already completed just so I can cross something off. If only there were more hours in the day, but I still think more would not be enough.
| We have been living in our home for three years, but a quick glance (even a belabored one) paints another picture. It looks like we just moved in. The day after we received the key (we bought three hours away), we headed straight for our new home, turned the key, and started making homeowner design plans. I had my HGTV dream home and hadn’t a clue as to what to do or how | ![]() |
| to decorate it. It’s so much easier envisioning when the rooms are empty.
We spent the first month painting the downstairs rooms, removing any trace of white walls, and the ugliest border wall paper I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t wait for it to be removed. What were those people thinking? The painting went well, but there were a lot of walls to paint, and there still are three years later. It doesn’t help that I have grown bored with our original color choices, but my husband says that it isn’t changing anytime soon. How does he know that :)? |

Well, I’m determined to finish decorating my home, nothing fancy, but at least making it “homey” for my family and to show better appreciation for what God has given us. It’s funny how we pray for “things” and once we get them, sometimes we don’t do such a great job taking care of them. |

My husband has offered more than once to have someone come in and help me. Thanks, but no thanks (I’m so ungrateful). His offer was probably really a desperate plea for help because I know he wants to also enjoy his home and coming home to disorder isn’t comforting. He’s threatened several times that he’s “bought the last roll of painter’s plastic.” I really am tired of rolling and unrolling my painters plastic (not so eco-friendly) window coverings and I won’t add up the amount of money we’ve already spent on PLASTIC (be gone!). Do you have a project or projects that have been gnawing at you for years (a book to read, a room to clean, some weeds to pull, a garage you can’t put your car in, a playroom to go through and throw away all of the junk - oh, I did say you, sorry) and you have been putting it off? Make yourslef a life list. Grab pen and paper, and make two columns. One should be titled “respect myself,” and the other should be titled, “respect my environment.” Pick ONE project (NOT two) from each column that you can accomplish within the next 30 days. Work on it until you’re done and don’t start another project until 30 days after the start of the first project you chose from each column. This will give you a chance to accept and enjoy the changes you’ve made and see if you can be consistent (when applicable). Once you’re done, then choose two more projects from your life list (again, one from each column) and get ready to start after the 30 days. If you need accountability, then you know where to find me because I’m depending on the same from you. Remember, your 30 days begins with you. You decide when to start. I’ve included two buttons (how unique
